What is Zinc?
Zinc is the second most abundant trace mineral in the body, being present in all tissues.
Zinc is required for:
Growth and human development;
The healthy functioning of the immune system;
The maintenance of healthy skin;
The balance of blood sugar through insulin;
Maintaining healthy liver function, vision, our sense of smell and taste, digestion and proper metabolism of carbohydrates
The healthy function of the reproductive organs and integrity of the prostate gland. Zinc is an important component of semen.
New Wholefood Zinc is made from hydroponically-grown brassica (a member of the broccoli family). We believe that this is the only genuine wholefood zinc product on the market. This edible species of brassica has a tremendous capacity to bioaccumulate high levels of minerals and metabolise them into its plant tissue and structure which is why it is so ideal for producing supplements where higher levels of minerals are required than would normally be present in the food we eat.
Wholefood Zinc is suitable for vegans and comes in an easy-to-take capsule.
Best Food Sources
Whole grains, brewer's yeast, oysters, wheat germ, pumpkin seeds, meat, eggs and ground mustard.
Beware that soil deficiencies of zinc have reduced the levels available in vegetables, and much zinc is removed from food during processing.
